Covid Oximetry Volunteering

Could you help support local vulnerable people in your area?

Would you like the opportunity to support your local health partners to help reduce the winter pressures on our NHS?

Your support could help vulnerable people in your area get the support they need at the right time.

As part of Calderdale’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, our NHS locally is rolling out pulse oximeters to people who live in Calderdale. These are small devices, which monitor a person’s oxygen levels, and are to be delivered to people who: have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or have symptoms of the virus; and are over 65 years of age; or are extremely vulnerable to COVID-19.

Providing individuals with these pulse oximeters will help health professionals monitor their condition.

We’re looking for local people to help deliver these devices to people living in private residences and care homes; to hospital and GP practices. Volunteers would need to be able to drive and have access to a car.

We are looking for reliable, trustworthy and flexible volunteers who would be able to respond quickly to a request from our service to deliver a device to a vulnerable person in the community and then collect the devices at a later stage.

Volunteering in this role can offer people a real sense of purpose

and an opportunity to potentially make a difference to someone’s life chances when suffering the effects of Covid-19.

Careful consideration has gone into the health & safety of volunteers undertaking this task and, whilst the risk is minimal, all necessary PPE kit and full instructions will be provided.

Please note that those who are at moderate or high risk of Covid-19 (as per government guidelines) will not be able to volunteer for this role.
